Cook Vice President Signs Aboard Informatics Advisory Group

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Chuck Franz, vice president-chief information officer of Cook Group Inc., has joined the Dean's Advisory Council at the Indiana University School of Informatics.

Franz is among several leaders representing business, community and industry who advise the School on curriculum and program development, public and private sector funding, research support, long-range planning, student guidance, external relations and institutional advancement.

"We are fortunate to have Mr. Franz join us in this important advisory capacity," says Informatics Dean J. Michael Dunn. "The experience he brings certainly will be important in shaping the future of our school."

Franz, whose career with Cook spans more than two decades, oversees the company's global information technology operations. Before his current position, he served as president of Cook Urological in Spencer, Ind., and chief coordinator of Cook's IT integration efforts.

"Being a graduate of Indiana University and having worked in technology for more than 20 years now, I appreciate how important this field has become," Franz said. "I am extremely pleased to have been asked to participate on Dean Dunn's advisory council."

Franz is a 1984 graduate of Indiana University where he earned a bachelor's degree in computer science. He was a member of IU's 1981 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship team.
