Growth in Cook Group Global Product Development and Clinical Trial
Initiation Fuels Major Expansion of MED Institute

West Lafayette, Ind. - MED Institute, the Cook Group company responsible for developing and helping implement the medical device manufacturer's global clinical trials for new products, has acquired the former Great Lakes Corp. headquarters and will use the facility for expanded operations. The real estate was purchased on June 23.

"In the last several years, MED Institute has responded to the enormous growth in Cook's demand for our technical, legal and regulatory affairs services by more than doubling its staff," explained Neal Fearnot, president, MED Institute. "We grew so rapidly that we ran out of room in our existing space and had to locate conference tables in our lobby. The purchase of the Great Lakes building more than triples our space and should provide us room for even more growth as Cook expands its new product development and clinical trial activities globally."

The new building has more than 92,000 sq. ft. of floor space on four floors, a significant increase over MED's current headquarters which has approximately 28,000 sq. ft. It is adjacent to the 600-acre Purdue Research Park that currently houses both MED Institute and a sister Cook Group company, Cook Biotech.

Fearnot said MED Institute's 125 employees would begin moving to the new facility in 30 days and expects the move to be completed by the end of the year. Eventually, the facility could hold as many as 250 employees.

"Cook has a long standing mission to provide lifesaving devices to patients and physicians," says Fearnot, "This move will better enable us to work with that mission."
