Fountain Square marks 30 years since historic restoration
Bloomington, Ind. – September marks the 30th anniversary of Fountain Square’s 3-year, 10-million dollar building restoration in 1985. The building has 130,000 square feet of retail, office, and community gathering space. It is currently home to 62 local businesses, including tech innovators like Envisage, and has served as a launching pad for local shops like EllieMae’s Boutique, Skirt & Satchel, and O’Child Children’s Boutique.
“Prior to the renovation, Bloomington was home to many business owners, community leaders, and residents who recognized the potential for downtown to once again become a gathering place and reliable location for local businesses,” said Jim Murphy, president of CFC properties. “The renovation of Fountain Square helped spark the revitalization of downtown Bloomington.”
Fountain Square hosts annual traditions such as pictures with the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. The Fountain Square ballroom, including the south atrium and fountain area, provides meeting and event space for weddings, receptions, anniversaries, professional events, and more.
Fountain Square will host its 30-year celebration on September 4, on Kirkwood, between College Avenue and Walnut Street, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event will feature the following guest speakers:
